Million bells and sweet alyssum
Calibrachoa (million bells) in yellow, red, orange and purple are in, along with masses of white sweet alyssum. Calibrachoa covers itself in tiny petunia-like flowers and is a favorite for pots and baskets. Sweet alyssum is a fragrant, low-growing filler that softens bed edges and container rims through the cool season. Together they make an easy, colorful combination for a sunny patio.
Sun: Full sun to part shade
Water: Moderate; keep calibrachoa evenly moist but not soggy
Size: Calibrachoa 6 to 10 in.; alyssum 4 to 6 in.
Best for: Pots, hanging baskets and bed edges
